Coaching nutricional como herramienta para la adquisición de hábitos alimentarios preventivos del cáncer

Resumen

Existe amplia bibliografía sobre recomendaciones para la prevención del cáncer, pero a pesar de ello, gran parte de la población no las lleva a cabo. Además, la poca existencia de investigaciones acerca de esta falta de adherencia, ha motivado a los autores de la presente revisión a abrir una línea de investigación dirigida a buscar herramientas que fomenten el seguimiento de estas recomendaciones. El objetivo principal de esta revisión es confirmar la capacidad del coaching nutricional como herramienta útil en la adquisición de hábitos saludables preventivos y en la modificación de hábitos poco saludables, favorecedores de ciertos tipos de cáncer. En este artículo de revisión se recoge información actualizada sobre hábitos y alimentos que aumentan o disminuyen el riesgo de distintos tipos de cáncer, y a la vez, evidencias científicas sobre la efectividad del coaching nutricional para asumir la responsabilidad de cuidarse a sí mismo, adoptando hábitos de vida saludables que redundan en un mejor estado nutricional. Los resultados de esta revisión muestran, a través de varios estudios, la efectividad del coaching en la modificación de factores preventivos y/o promotores de cáncer. Por ese motivo, se concluye que el coaching nutricional puede ser útil en la prevención de determinados tipos de cáncer.
